We try not to play favorites, but there is something to be said about these particular natives and here they are in no particular order.

- Black eyed Susan, rudbeckia hirta. She is beauty, she is grace, she blooms all summer long! BES is our bae.
- Fragrant hyssop, agastache foeniculum. The bumble bees and goldfinches are always hanging out on this anise scented beauty. Perfect to pair with the yellow sea of BES!
- Little bluestem, schizachyrium scoparium. One of those “looks good in every season” grasses. Blueish tinted in the summer, and reddish purple in the fall and winter, bluestem is a fave.
- Rattlesnake master, eryngium yuccifolium. Likely the most unique native, RM provides a bit of structure against the billowy grasses and flowers.
- Butterfly weed, asclepias tuberosa. Even though it has weed in its name, BW is anything but. A host plant for monarchs with lovely orange flowers, this is a fun plant to have in your yard.
- Sweet Joe Pye, eutrochium purpureum. Pretty pink plumes adorn this plant, and it is perfect for areas that get partial sun.
- Side oats Grama, Bouteloua curtipendula. The seed heads on this grass are lovely, and it’s salt tolerant, so you can plant it right next to the street without worry.
